one to one sessions

Let’s work through it, together. During the session, we’ll talk openly about where things actually stand, look at what’s been pulling at your attention, and take a step back to see the bigger picture. My approach is grounded and reflective – real conversation, no pressure, no fixing.

What is transformational coaching and who is it for?

Coaching is a structured path to transformation, no matter where you are in life or what your past holds. It’s about defining your goals and achieving results, with a focus on your growth and evolution.

This is an active partnership. Sessions revolve around what you want to achieve, whether that’s performance, wellbeing, leadership, identity-level change, or navigating life’s complexities.

How is transformational coaching different from therapy or mentoring?

Coaching focuses on future goals and self‑discovery, not diagnosis or advice‑giving.

What You Can Expect in a Coaching Session?
  • Powerful questioning to unlock clarity and potential.
  • Deep, focused listening to truly understand you.
  • Reflection and reframing to shift perspectives.
  • Exploration of your values, beliefs, and identity.
  • Accountability structures to keep you on track.
  • Purposeful progress toward your meaningful goals.

All sessions are confidential, move at your pace, and go as deep as you’re comfortable with at the moment.

What does it mean to work with a coach?

Working with a coach, according to the International Coaching Federation (ICF), means entering a thought‑provoking, creative partnership designed to help you maximise your personal and professional potential. The ICF definition is intentionally simple but powerful:

Coaching is partnering with clients in a thought‑provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential“.

how do you work?

I offer coaching online or in person, primarily in and around Edinburgh. I’m happy to travel further for an additional transport fee.

Without a traditional office, I often meet clients outdoors (in places like the Meadows, weather permitting), in cafes, or other quiet spaces. I’m flexible on location, as long as we can talk without interruptions.

I do not conduct home visits or workplace sessions. Familiar environments can limit the depth of exploration and change we aim to achieve.

What to expect in a coaching session?

Each coaching session is guided by your needs and pace. All sessions are confidential and adapted to how you’re feeling and what you’re open to exploring that day.

We begin with a check-in to understand where you are, and we’ll agree on how to work together. I’ll offer thoughtful challenge when it feels right for you.

I listen without judgment, ask insightful questions, and guide you on your journey. Expect honesty, empathy, trust, integrity, and constructive feedback.

I believe nothing is impossible, and choice is always an option.

can you guarantee results?

Results are guaranteed when you commit to the work, coaching is a true partnership. Common outcomes include greater clarity, confidence, resilience, and alignment with your purpose, among many others.

there is more than one way to start

option 1: 6 sessions of ongoing work

INVESTMENT: £300

Available online or in person: indoors or outdoors (including walk‑and‑talk). In‑person sessions within Edinburgh have no extra cost; travel fees may apply outside Edinburgh.

I speak both English and Portuguese fluently, so sessions can be conducted in either language.

what to expect

I use the TRANSFORM model and the journey begins with six sessions, a proven structure that can be extended if needed:

  • Session 1: Goal setting; we’ll explore where you are, where you want to be, and capture your vision with clarity and focus.
  • Session 2: Create your plan; I’ll guide you in mapping out the path and pace to reach your goal.
  • Sessions 3 & 4: Follow-up and accountability; we’ll track progress and refine your plan as needed.
  • Session 5: Evaluate your journey; reflect on your growth and achievements so far.
  • Session 6: Move forward with confidence; map next steps and prepare how to continue your progress independently.

How frequent are the sessions?

Once every 2 – 4 weeks, to be agreed in advance

How long does a session last?

Each session lasts up to 60 minutes.

** If you book all 6 sessions in advance, you’ll also receive a follow-up call 3 to 6 months after your last session: a 45-minute check-in to troubleshoot and help you stay on track. This is optional and comes at no extra cost. **

option 2: drop-in sessions

Available online or in person: indoors or outdoors (including walk‑and‑talk). In‑person sessions within Edinburgh have no extra cost; travel fees may apply outside Edinburgh.

I speak both English and Portuguese fluently, so sessions can be conducted in either language.

A single session won’t solve everything and it’s not meant to. But it can give you something real: a chance to say out loud what’s been sitting unspoken, hear it back from someone outside your situation, and leave with more clarity than you came in with.

This option is for those who’d rather take things one session at a time, without committing to a full package upfront. You can book as often, or as rarely as feels right, and there’s no obligation to continue beyond each individual conversation.

I started working with Martha at a time when I felt really unsure about my direction. I had been through a rough period and was still working with a therapist, but I also needed support in looking ahead. Martha helped me focus on the possibilities of what my future could look like. Becoming a furniture maker had always felt like an impossible dream, but after working with her, I now truly believe it’s achievable. She also helped me realise that I’m not alone, and that it’s completely okay to ask for help.
